Kiddush Guest Speaker and Sponsorship

Please join us this Shabbat, Parshat Va'Yetzei (November 21) at the Mizrachi Bayit.

Rabbi Yonatan Feintuch, of Yeshivat Har Etzion Beit Midrash for Women in Migdal Oz, will be our guest speaker. He will speak during kiddush on the topic: " Uncovering Covert Themes and Messages in a Dramatic and Bizarre Talmudic Study: The Tale of King Herod".

 

Kiddush is sponsored by the Shapiro Family in honor of the release of Jonathan Pollard.

This Shabbat marks the 30th year of Jonathan Pollard's incarceration.
Jonathan is to be released from jail, G-D Willing, this Friday, November 20.
Please join us for Kiddush in honour of Jonathan as we celebrate his freedom.
The Shapiro's have been saving a special bottle in anticipation of this occasion.

 

Dr. Feintuch will also deliver the Pre-Musaf Derasha on the Parsha.

Rabbi Dr. Yonatan Feintuch teaches Talmud, Midrash and Tanach and Jewish Educatiom at Yeshivat Har Etzion Beit Midrash for Women in Migdal Oz, Herzog College in Alon Sshvut and Bar Ilan University. He earned his BSc in medical sciences at Hebrew University in Jerusalem, and his Masters and PhD in Talmud from Bar Ilan University. He also holds a teacher’s degree from Herzog College. He writes and speaks widely on issues of Tanach, Midrash and Aggadot of the Talmud, with a special emphasis on issues of the dynamics between halacha and aggadah in the Talmud. He has published many articles on these topics in leading academic as well as Torah journals. Dr. Feintuch resides with his wife Carmit and their six children in Alon Shvut, Israel.

Chanukah Play

The kids will be practicing for the Chanukah play during the Kids' Program for the next few weeks leading up to the performance at the Mizrachi Bayit Chanukah Party on Thursday December 10.  The performance will be a combination of songs, movements, and talking parts.  All ages welcome.  If your kids would like to participate please bring them to shul so that they can practice.  Please also stay tuned for an announcement about a Costume Making Shindig on a non-Shabbat day ahead of time.  If you have any questions, please email Saul at saulmelamed@yahoo.com.
